Walk: “Brixham Uncovered”

Be surprised if not astonished by the influence this small fishing town has had on our lives and the world around us. Our tour starts outside the Queens Arms, “a local community boozer” as its landlord Chris likes to call it, where we learn how a local man built a local railway and how his drive and vision helped Brixham become an industrial power house on the South Devon Coast.  We’ll visit one of the best preserved gun batterys of the second world war, although its history goes back to the times of the Spanish Armada. Moving down on to the seafront we’ll get an understanding of the investment the likes of ICI and Astra Zeneca have made in this world famous fishing port…now Englands biggest!  Royalty, parliamentarians, invasion and religion will all contribute to the walk before this ½ day tour concludes.
You may then want to enjoy a Devon cream tea in one of the numerous options on the harbour front (not included)
