Not to be celebrated but never to be forgotten. Devon became known as “the most active military county in the war”. Step back in time and uncover its unrivalled links with WWII, abandoned bunkers, tragic tales and heroic stories will always be an integral part of Devons’ history. Learn about one mans selfless 20 year mission to ensure the lives of 100’s of American soldiers who died on Devon beaches will always be remembered and stand on the very spot where over 20,000 American GI’s embarked on the 5th June to invade Europe. Be taken aback as we visit two of the best preserved gun battery’s of World War II and be humbled by the stories of personal sacrifice of the people of South Devon, the unsung heroes. Often seen as a tour of reflection, but also one of inspiration.

Nigel is very informative and extremely knowledgeable concerning his main passions -which include Devons part in WW2 , the local lighthouses and the environmental impact we are having on the coastline. . We saw places that we simply would not have found on our own, learned a great deal on the way, had a great walk along part of the coastal path, a stop for lunch in a well chosen (by Nigel ) pub/restaurant, and good fun along the way.
